So a few days back my husband Pramod and I were at the immigration office to get my new visa. We woke up early morning, reached the office as soon as it opened and stood in line to get our token number. As Pramod showed my passport to the officer-in-charge I noticed a stamp on the back. It was the official logo of Armed Forces Officers Club (A.F.O.C)- the company were Appa (my dad ) works.

While waiting for our turn I thought about this stamp again. I remembered the days Appa used to work (he still does) at A.F.O.C. I recalled the benefits that were given to him and his family. As you all know, all companies here in U.A.E offer so many different kinds of benefits-in-kind to their employees.

These are a few our family enjoyed.

Our biggest blessing was FREE accommodation. Though we shifted a lot of apartments- God did bless Appa with a company that provided the rent for whichever apartment we found suitable (terms and conditions included).

My sister and I were blessed with student benefits. Our family’s been blessed to travel every year to India because of free annual flight tickets. The insurance provided for us was extremely beneficial for all our hospital trips.

And now that I have shifted to Pramod sponsorship I still continue to enjoy these benefits from his company.

But this got me thinking again.

What about My God?

Do we realise the benefits.a.k.a blessings that we bask in daily?

What is His seal on you? Aren’t you His precious child? Hasn’t He crowned you over all His creations? Haven’t you been saved by His sacrifice on the cross? Don’t you belong to His right side?

Our God is known by many times in the Bible.

  • Jehovah Nissi (The Lord My Banner)
  • Jehovah-Raah (The Lord My Shepherd)
  • Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals)
  • Jehovah Shammah (The Lord Is There)
  • Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord Our Righteousness)
  • Jehovah Mekoddishkem (The Lord Who Sanctifies You)
  • El Olam (The Everlasting God)
  • Elohim (God)
  • Qanna (Jealous)
  • Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide)
  • Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace)
  • Jehovah Sabaoth (The Lord of Hosts)

So now let’s relate this to our present world.

God built His first home for His children in the Garden of Eden. Adam and Eve lived in paradise. Our Lord has blessed us all with a roof above our heads and a solid ground to walk on. He has given shelter to our heart’s desire- to build a family with Christ as its head. Who provided the bricks and sand? Who showered us with financial support to own our own place?

What about other benefits that we enjoy? Did God choose to bless us because of who we are or because of who He is? Our God only wants to bless us. Why don’t we seek and claim these blessings from Him?

If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!- Mathew 7:11

What about His peace? Which company offers peace to you? No matter how crazy the world turns around you, God promises that only He alone can give you peace! You may have a million worldly reasons to think God’s peace is not enough. But only He has the key for your lockdown and frustration.

Think about health insurance. Yes, of course, we enjoy benefits and care at the hospitals. But who is our healer? Who has authority over all sickness and diseases? Who rebuked it all on the cross? Who beat death?
Why is that we never go to our Lord for healing? Yes, doctors are His helpers but why do we get disappointed or worried whenever we get a bad report? Is healing impossible for the Lord? Is any disease greater than our God? And you know what’s the best part-

Our God gave His Son Jesus for us freely. We did not gain forgiveness on our own merits but by Grace and faith in Jesus Christ.

Jesus is softly and tenderly calling you every day to come to Him. Let Him enter your life and give you all that He has to offer- His whole heart, a new life and countless blessings!

All that He asks of you is to invite Him to your life. His love will change our hearts and lives.

There was a really long line at the visa counter and as we were waiting for our turn, I began to feel hungry (nothing new there :D) and decided to grab a snack. I came back to the immigration office with a packet of Tiffany cookies.

As I began to munch on them Pramod asked, “Do you really like these?”

He got his answer when he realised I barely heard him 😀

“There are so many of these packets lying around at work. We get them for free because Iffco (head of Tiffany) is our client. If I had known earlier, I would have brought them home for you.”

“YES PLEASSSEEE!!”, I replied with my mouth full.

Unlike our earthly providers (please get me those cookies :D), Our Heavenly Father knows what we want and need. But you have to ASK!!

I cannot stress enough how this verse can change your entire dependency.

Did you know that the Bible says you are God’s signet ring?

“‘On that day,’ declares the LORD Almighty, ‘I will take you, my servant Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel,’ declares the LORD, ‘and I will make you like my signet ring, for I have chosen you,’ declares the LORD Almighty.”- Haggai 2:23

For those who don’t know what is or the importance of a Signet ring:
Ancient kings used signet rings to designate authority, honor, or ownership. A signet contained an emblem unique to the king. Official documents were sealed with a dollop of soft wax impressed with the king’s signet, usually kept on a ring on his finger. Such a seal certified the document as genuine, much like a notary public’s stamp today.
Any letter that was sealed with a signet ring could not be revoked.

THAT is how important you are to God !!

Today this seal/signet ring on you is effective only when accompanied by faith. The Holy Spirit seals those who trust in Christ. The Spirit’s presence is God’s guarantee that we are owned by him and secure in him. Since the Holy Spirit’s task is to apply Christ’s work to God’s people, he anoints us “in Christ” the moment we believe.

So dear readers, Let’s thank our God for so many of His countless blessings upon us- many of which we fail to even realise. Let’s continue to invite Him to our life every day. Let’s seek Him to know his heart and claim His blessings.

Like how every employee has to remain in his/her company to enjoy its benefits- we too should remain in our Lord, and He in us- to change our lives, to fulfill His promises and to prepare us for an eternity with Him.

What is God’s seal on you- FORGIVEN? BLESSED? LOVED? HIS CHILD?

Think about His providence/benefits.

It may take a while because that’s math you can’t do on your fingers and toes alone! 🙂

God bless!
